New slurry gas detector available

Ag Tech4 is a new Cork-based company that is importing a gas detecting device aimed at helping farmers and contractors detect low levels of the lethal hydrogen sulphide or slurry gas, which is given off during slurry agitation. The unit was initially designed for the mining industry.

The AT-171 detector is designed to be worn by the user by attaching the device to a belt or pocket. It claims to continuously monitor hydrogen sulphide levels in the air.

If an unsafe level of the gas is detected, the device is designed to notify the user through audio, vibratory and visual (LEDs) alarms. There is both a high and low alarm point. The device is calibrated according to hydrogen sulphide exposure limits as set out in EU legislation.

The AT-171 is claimed to be a zero-maintenance gas detector which offers continuous, reliable protection. This single gas detector requires no battery charging, no battery replacement, no calibration or no sensor replacement. It claims to offer up to two years of continuous protection, after which it must be replaced.

The device can be bought from www.safeonthefarm.com and costs €125 plus €5 postage to anywhere in Ireland.
