Two large, valuable farms are coming up for auction from Murtagh Bros, each expected to fetch €1m or more.

First to be offered will be a 130ac holding at Kilcurley, Tubber, Co Offaly. This grass farm lies in one block, midway between Moate and Horseleap. It has extensive road frontage. The farm sits on the L2019 Parkwood road, on which it has frontage. The M6 motorway runs along its northern boundary. Finally, it has frontage on another local road on its southern side.

Just over 100ac of the entire is in permanent pasture but the ground is described by the auctioneers as suited for any farming use. The balance of 32.7ac is under forestry which was planted in 1998.

The farm will go for auction on Wednesday 1 October at 3pm in the auctioneer’s sales room at Enfield, Co Meath. The guide price is €1.2m.

The second farm is 74ac at Shandonagh, Mullingar, Co Westmeath. It will go for auction on Friday 3 October at 3pm in the same venue.

The farm sits on the R392 Mullingar to Ballymahon road, on which it has close to 1km of frontage. It is just 5km from Mullingar. The Royal Canal runs at the rear of the land. The land has a number of gate entrances from the main road.

The 74ac at Shandonagh, Mullingar is described as top class finishing land. It has close to 1km of frontage on the main road.

The farm is top quality agricultural land renowned for its fattening abilities, the auctioneers say. The holding is all in grass and laid out in one large field. The perimeter is stock proof and is a mixture of permanent fencing and mature trees.

The guide price is €1m. Online bidders have to register with Murtagh Bros.
