Do you have or know of a jam-packed dresser that takes pride of place in a family kitchen? A dresser filled with curiosities, pottery poultry, salt and pepper sets and an odd collection of plates, each of which has their own story to tell. A dresser with hiding holes for jewellery, keys and all the bits and pieces that there’s just no home for anywhere else.
If so and you live in Carlow, Mayo, Tipperary or Waterford, then Wexford artist Michael Fortune wants to hear from you and document the stories of these dressers.
And with good reason, as he explains himself.

“My grandmother, Jane Fortune, passed away in February at the age of 103. She’d only been ill for a short while and had even cared for her vegetable garden last year. She had a great dresser full of all sorts of things that captured the story of her life.”
Michael now wants to document the stories of 15 dressers in each of these four counties. It doesn’t matter how big or small, plain or ornate your dresser is, he’d love to hear from you. Michael can be contacted at 087-6470247 or by email, at micfortune@gmail.com.
