The Lismore Music Festival

1-6 June: Lismore Opera Festival takes place each year in the stunning, historic and magical surroundings of Lismore Castle in Co Waterford and in great houses along the Blackwater River Valley in Ireland’s sunny southeast. The festival will present an original production of Mozart’s comic masterpiece Cosi fan tutte at Lismore Castle this June; afternoon recitals in two of the Blackwater Valley’s finest country houses, Salterbridge House and Cappoquin House; and a concert in the historic St Carthage’s Cathedral. Leixlip Festival

3-5 June: Leixlip Festival in Co Kildare features three nights of outstanding music and entertainment with an amazing line-up of headline acts such as The Strypes, Ryan Sheridan, Hermitage Green and Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow. The festival showcases the best of national and local talent in the outdoor courtyard each day and right into the night. K-fest Music and the Arts Festival

3-6 June: K-Fest Music and the Arts promotes culture in all its forms, nurturing the growth of music and the arts through live music, film, spoken word, children’s workshops and street entertainment. Held in Killorglin, Co Kerry, film, poetry, drama, rambling houses, debates, street entertainment, busking and family events are all incorporated within the festival line-up. The musical acts performing during the festival are carefully chosen to afford the audience a chance to experience acts that would not otherwise be readily accessible in Killorglin. Innishannon Steam and Vintage Rally

5-6 June: Innishannon Steam and Vintage Rally in Co Cork is the largest steam and vintage rally in Ireland and is held in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. Over 1,000 exhibits will be on show including steam engines, tractors, military vehicles, oil engines, fire engines, motor cycles, lorries, vintage farm machinery, fairground organs, trade stands, amusements, a pets’ corner, sheep dog demonstrations, live music, set dancing, rural crafts, book stalls, sheep dog trials and more. Indigestion

9 June: Indigestion, brought to the Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire, is a story about emigration, immigration, and the Irish condition. Written and performed by Seamus O’Rourke, the story follows a one-year-old boy who leaves Cavan in search of a better life in London, following in the footsteps of millions of others. Life isn’t all rosy in London, though. There’s depression, an expanding waistline, love, loss and anger. Seamus walks you through the grey reality of life before returning to Ireland, where all is changed. Tickets range from €16 to €18. For more information see www.paviliontheatre.ie

3 June: This American drama thriller focuses on an ambitious young lawyer who takes on a big case against a powerful and ruthless executive of a large pharmaceutical company.
