Wonder Wheel
9 March: Set in the 1950s, Wonder Wheel tells the tale of four characters whose lives are intertwined by the pleasant chaos of Coney Island amusement park. Kate Winslet plays Ginny, a former actress who is on edge with her turbulent emotions and is now spending her days working as a waitress in a clam house. Things take a dramatic turn when her husband’s daughter, Carolina, shows up out of the blue with a troubled past involving gangsters. With nowhere else to go, she heads to her father’s apartment in the hope that it will become her safe haven.
Legally Blond
8 March: This musical is an all-singing, all-dancing romantic comedy, so gather your gal pals for a night of fun-filled entertainment. Running to 10 March, Legally Blond will introduce you to Elle Woods, the college sweetheart and homecoming queen who is left devastated after her boyfriend ends their relationship for someone more serious. As a result of which Elle decides to put away the credit card and hits the books as she takes off to Harvard Law School, proving that it is never too late to be true to yourself. Private Peaceful
9 March: In this theatre show, brought to you by Verdant Productions, Simon Reade adapts and directs a stage version of Morpurgo’s award-winning book, Private Peaceful, which is a reminder of the heroic sacrifices that were made by those who were involved in World War I. Taking place at the Hawk’s Well Theatre in Sligo, this story follows the life of a young solider named Tommo Peaceful, who faces the firing squad for cowardice. 11 March: It has been two years since Dominic Kirwan graced the stage at the Millennium Forum in Derry. The Omagh-born entertainer has been busy performing across the country as his alluring appeal attracts fans of all ages, making him one of the leading men in the country scene. This show will see Dominic covering many of his much-loved songs and he will also be introducing tracks from his most recent country album, My Country Favourites, which has been a huge success. Coole Music Orchestra Festival
10 March: The 11th Coole Music Orchestra Festival in Gort, Co Galway, will see young orchestras from Mayo, Galway and Limerick presenting music from around the world. They will perform in a Bollywood Céilí grand finale composed by festival founders and artistic director of Coole Music School, Katharina Baker. Festival workshops will occur on the day, ranging from didgeridoo to Bollywood dance and everyone is invited to come along and participate in as many as they wish for €5 each.
