Not all of these will be available on the Irish market, but interesting nonetheless. Of particular interest are a new drill, compact disc harrow and quick-fit plough tip.

Kverneland chose Soest, the site of its Accord seed drill factory in northwest Germany, as the location to preview its pre-Agritechnica products. This is described as the firm’s Competence Centre of Seeding Technology.

At Soest, it produces its pneumatic and mechanical seed drills, precisions drills and seeding combinations for the brands Kverneland and Vicon. Soest has benefitted from the Kubota takeover of the Kverneland Group in April 2012. Since then €20 million has been invested in both a new paint line and improved research and development capacity.

President and CEO of the Kverneland Group Ingvald Løyning described how its purchase by Kubota in 2012 and its subsequent investment in Kverneland is a clear indicator of the potential Kubota sees in Kverneland. “We are an implement specialist and want to remain that,” stated Ingvald Løyning, and he added: “Kubota’s investment in Kverneland is long term.”

It is expected that some Kverneland products will be available in Kubota colours but not the other way round.

The arrangement with CNH to supply them with mowers for the American market remains in place, while in Italy, Kverneland completed a buyout of the Gallignani baler and bale wrapper factory last December.
