The strong demand for classic and vintage tractors continues, particularly for those of rare nature or in original condition. This was evident at a recent Harrogate vintage machinery auction held by Cheffins, where a 1988 Mercedes MB-Trac 1300 model with one previous owner secured €40,947 (£35,500).

The sale, held in Yorkshire, is a highly regarded annual event that has been on the calendar since 1997. This year’s entry saw over 110 classic and vintage tractors, not to mention the endless number of spares and other collectors’ items which took the entire entry to over 1,000 lots. The auction totalled €841,909 (£730,000) with 70% of tractors selling on the day.

Mercedes MB-Trac tractors continue to attract a loyal following. This follows on from a staggering €108,812 (£94,336) paid for a 1991 MB-Trac 1600 at a Cheffins vintage sale late last year. A 1985 MB-Trac 1500 also secured the top price at last year’s Harrogate sale as well, selling for €59,352 (£51,456).
