With four existing premises (three in Cork and one in Offaly), Atkins Farm Machinery is on the go since 1878, making it one of the oldest in the business. Last week, the firm held a McHale and Kubota demonstration day in Watergrasshill, Co Cork, on a recently purchased site where the company is set to build its new premises.

Atkins managing director Mark Wolfe said: “It is our intention to relocate the farm machinery business from Carrigrohane Road, Cork city, to the site in Watergrasshill. In addition, we will also be closing the branch in Fermoy.

“We will be redeveloping the branch at Bandon and increasing the number of staff working there.

“The plan is to build a new premises at this 7.5ac site which is on the outskirts of Watergrasshill, just off the M8 motorway at Junction 17.”

In other news, the demonstration proved to be a unique sight. There was a total of 16 Kubota tractors working side by side, cutting, tedding, baling, wrapping and stacking bales. This was supposedly the largest grouping of Kubota tractors on Irish soil.
