Samco will be bringing Case Construction equipment and a broad range of its own manufactured attachments to the Ploughing in Screggan next week. This will mark the return of Case Construction equipment to the event, which has been absent for a number of years.
Samco will showcase the new Case 721G+ X-Agri wheel loader, as well as a range of mini, midi and larger excavators.
Last autumn, CNH took a renewed look at its wheel loaders.
The newly released ‘+’ model is a new machine purpose-built for silage pit work, and not just another construction model fitted with Agri tyres and sent to work. In the construction version, the 6.7l FPT NEF engine offers 195hp.
Meanwhile, with the new ‘+’ Agri model churns out 30% more horsepower, at 255hp. Torque has also increased noticeably from 950Nm to 1,300Nm, an overall increase of 37%. In order to better transfer the power to the ground, an extra gear has been added to the now six-speed 48km/h ZF transmission. What’s more, torque lockup of the torque convertor is available from first gear, where instead it was previously only offered from second gear onwards.
New models will include the same axles as found on the larger models. Aside from a newly designed boom joystick, there is now an option of joystick steering system, similar to that offered by other competitors. The 721G X+ Agri loader weighs in at 16.3t.
Silage forks
The Limerick firm offers silage forks in widths from 10 foot up to 16 feet, with tines from six to seven foot.
Within its fork offering, Samco has said that wider spacing is becoming popular with precision-chop silage contractors, due to the grass been allowed to flow through the tines as it is levelled by the loader.
It notes that a reduced amount of ‘flicking’ is needed by the operator to level the load, which increases the forward momentum, hence the amount of time spent rolling the pit can be increased. It also reduces wear and stress on both man and machine from less movement needed to level the load of grass.
Samco claims to build the only fork available on the market with the double ball self-angling bearing for a long service life.
It says the positioning of the bearing system at the outside of the hinge points increases strength and reduces wear on the hinge points.
Wheel extenders
Samco says that the wheel extenders are growing in popularity with contractors. It says the speed at which they can be moved from road to pit working position is less than three minutes for the pair.
Depending on the loader model width of up to 12 inches can be achieved on each side allowing the front wheels to be offset from the rear ones.
Samco now offer three rim sizes available as it says customer requests for the larger loaders have increased.
Tillage and grass equipment
Samco’s maize drill offering will be on display, now coming with optional features such as the 2,000l front tank and new controllers, as it says the emphasis is now on output. The range has widened more to have other features added, where it says eight and 12-row planters are a common sight now laying film.
A new designed stone fork will be on its stand which has some novel features for safety for the road for the use on the front linkage. It allows the fork to fold straight up, reducing the front overhang on the road by four feet. Front weights can be added as required. The firm’s folding five-meter land leveller with its award-winning patented stone collector will also be on display.
