Claas has said it is incorporating the experience it has gained from producing more than 250,000 mowers into the latest generation of its Disco Contour disc mowers. New features such as a counterweight, the double roller drive on the RC models and a steel roller conditioner are being introduced to the series, which ranges from 2.6m to 4.2m working width.

Twelve new Disco Contour mowers with centre of gravity suspension were introduced last year, to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors, which feature new designs with grey protective covers.

New counterweight option

With the latest generation Disco Contour mounted rear mowers, a counterweight is now available. Claas has seen an increase in lighter four-cylinder tractors being used for tasks such as mowing. By adding the counterweight, the manufacturer says this ensures a more even load on the tractor’s rear wheels, especially with larger working widths and lighter tractors.

This will allow the tractor to be turned faster and safer on slopes and headlands. Depending on the equipment and working width, up to eight 50kg individual weights can be added. On the road, the mower folds to 120-degree folding for stable transport.

Launched in 2015, Claas is continuing to use the proven Max Cut mower cutter bar. Some new practical details include the portable blade box and the red-painted disc covers with identically coloured blades according to the direction of rotation which make it easier to change blades. All mower models continue to be fitted with the popular Active Float hydro-pneumatic cutter bar suspension, which allows the ground pressure to be adjusted from the cab. At the top of the Disco Contour series is the Disco 4400 Contour with a working width of 4.2m.

The blades are coloured according to the direction of rotation.

Tine or polyurethane rollers

A roller conditioner with a double roller drive is also now available for the Disco 3600 RC Contour. Claas explains that the double drive with scissor gearbox not only transmits higher torques, but enables a high throughput even in extreme crops. The Disco 2800 C, Disco 3200 C And Disco 3600 C continue to use the helically arranged V-shaped tine conditioners. The conditioning intensity can be adjusted using the conditioning plate. All Disco Contour conditioner mowers are equipped with adjustable swathing plates. As an option, Disco RC models with roller conditioner can be equipped with two telescopic additional swath plates.

Up to eight 50kg individual weights can be added.
