The fourth generation of the 1000 Vario series ranges in power from 426 to 550hp, and is made up of four models (1040, 1044, 1048 and 1052 Vario).

The Fendt Dynamic Performance (DP) added-power concept is available for all models and, depending on the model, additionally adds 26, 27 or 30hp, when its required. Fendt DP is bound to neither driving speed nor special application tasks. Fendt says it works purely dynamically – even during stationary PTO work or, depending on the operating conditions in soil cultivation. If the power requirement rises for consumers such as hydraulics, PTO, compressed air supply or air-conditioning, Fendt DP gives it more power.

Fendt says the 1000 series was developed as a flexible and compact tractor in the performance class up to 550hp, with the focus of the development on a low empty weight with compact dimensions for the class. The range continue to use the well-known MAN engine, which is also approved for HVO and other fuels.

Another new feature is the integration of Apple CarPlay into the infotainment via cable or Bluetooth.

New lighting package

With the 1000 Vario series, Fendt is presenting a new cab with an exclusively developed lighting concept. The new LED spotlights are available in two variants: Vision and UltraVision. In both variants, eight or 12 spotlights can be installed in the cab roof. In the UltraVision variant, the tractor illuminates the area with 4,400 lumens per spotlight and the spotlights are dimmable in five stages. The Vision equipment option offers 1,000 lumens per spotlight. All spotlights, including the rotating beacon, are installed in the cab roof for optimum illumination and glare-free working and are aimed at the work, whether in forestry, construction or agricultural use.

Fendt says that up to four individual light profiles can be stored for quick operation of the work lights. When the tractor is driving in the harvest chain, for example, the right side can be off and the left side can be adjusted brighter to that the combine isn’t blinded.

The set configuration can also be mirrored with one click. Then the light on the side can be dimmed with passing traffic, while the side facing away from the road is illuminated brighter. If the tractor changes the direction of operation, it can mirror the setting and prevents glare for traffic. Another new feature is the independent control of spotlights to the same position. If the weather changes due to fog or rain, the light intensity can be adjusted quickly.

The optional Fendt Ground Vision drawbar lighting illuminates the area directly at the rear of the machine. On the one hand, the area directly in front of the implement and its front is illuminated in field use, on the other hand, it simplifies the attachment and detachment of implements in the dark. The lights are integrated at the lower end of the rear fenders.

The drivetrain of the new 1000 Vario consists of the latest generation of the single-stage VarioDrive transmission.

Cab

Fendt says that the interplay of the standard single-wheel and front axle suspension, the vibration dampening of the power lift and the pneumatic seat suspension offers a high level of comfort. The series now come with an electrically adjustable “Titanium Super Comfort Leather Seat”. The driver adjusts the seat height and position as well as the backrest angle electrically via a lever on the side of the seat. Changing operators can create personalised seat profiles and access them in Fendt ONE.

Another new feature is the integration of Apple CarPlay into the infotainment via cable or Bluetooth. As already known from the automotive sector, operation is carried out via the terminal on the armrest. The software will be rolled out in June 2026.

The 1000 Vario has up to six spools in the rear and one in the front.

Engine and transmission

The drivetrain of the new 1000 Vario consists of the latest generation of the single-stage VarioDrive transmission and the six-cylinder, 12.4l MAN engine. The 1000 Vario Gen4 features adjustable power levels.

The driver can select the various power levels according to the range of the application and implement. For each model, only the downward adjustment of the power level is possible. This means that customers of a 1044 Vario cannot call up the performance of the larger 1048 etc, but only those of the smaller model 1040 Vario. Fendt says this option reduces fuel consumption, protects implements that are not designed for 550hp and the tractor.

VarioDrive drives the front and rear axles independently according to demand and distributes the power to the axle with grip. With this, the front axle can actively pull the tractor through a turn, through the pull-in turn effect.

With the Fendt iD low speed concept, the 1000 Vario achieves high torque and saves fuel even at low engine speeds. The rated engine speed is only 1,700rpm. In the main working range, the speed is a quiet 1,100 to 1,400rpm. The tractors reach speeds of up to 50km/h at 1,200rpm, and 60km/h at 1,450rpm. The maximum torque of 2,650 Nm is available on the top1052 Vario model from 1,150rpm.

Hydraulics

The 1000 Vario has up to six spools in the rear and one in the front. Optionally available is a double pump system with 430 l/min (220 + 210 l/min). At the rear, the Load Sensing (LS) connections and control units can be equipped with FFC couplings. These reduce the dirt ingress into the system as well as oil leakage and pressure losses.

The operating weight of 14t with a permissible overall weight of 21t with approval with 40 or 50km/h allows a 7t payload. If the tractor is approved for 60 km/h, the permissible overall weight is 18t and allows 4t of payload. The Fendt 1000 Vario Gen4 can be ordered from autumn 2025.
