Krone unveiled the new MX 380 forage wagon last week, which coincided with the first showing of the new machine in Ireland at the Ploughing in Tullamore. Krone explained that with the new MX generation it is introducing a completely redesigned wagon equipped with advanced technology.

The new MX series offers a load capacity ranging from 30 to 38m3. Krone said it has specifically designed the series for users who prioritise low drag resistance. It says this is based on a complete redesign, featuring a lightweight construction, being around 1t lighter in comparison to the previous MX series.

Grass is picked up by a camless EasyFlow pick-up, which has been widened by approximately 20cm to a working width of 2.02m. Another new feature of the pick-up is the hydraulic drive. Previously reserved for the RX/ZX segment, the OptiGrass chopping unit is now also being introduced in the new MX. This series features a 760mm diameter integral rotor, fitted with wide steel plates and the SplitCut edge-cutting system. The OptiGrass 37 features 39 blades, offering a theoretical cutting length of 37mm, while the OptiGrass 28 features 52 blades, allowing a theoretical cutting length of 28mm.

When it comes to the drive, Krone is using the new PowerBelt belt drive. Designed specifically for the MX, it's rated up to 2,000 Nm and is designed for tractors of 130 to 250hp.
