Kilkenny City was crowned the Kerrygold club question time national winner for 2018-19 at the Maldron Hotel on Saturday night.

At the NDC bowling all-Ireland finals, Causeway Macra did enough to edge out Fermoy Macra and take the bowling title back to Kerry.

For Kilkenny City Macra, it was a long-awaited victory in the question time finals, having gone close on several occasions in the past. Callan Macra was the runner-up, securing a one-two for Kilkenny Macra, while Clonakilty Macra completed the top three.

Team work

Speaking after the weekend, Macra na Feirme president James Healy said: ‘‘Our national competitions continue to go from strength to strength and represent all that is good about Macra na Feirme. They encourage team work, hard work, leadership and provide an outlet for our members to meet new people.

‘‘Both of our competitions this weekend had fantastic representation from Macra clubs all over the country, which is very encouraging to see and I would like to thank Ornua for their continued sponsorship of our club question time quiz competition and the National Dairy Council for their support of our bowling finals.

‘‘Congratulations to both our winning teams this weekend and all those who finished in the prizes and well done to all our Macra na Feirme clubs who entered and contested the national finals of these competitions,’’ Healy said.

Attention now turns to the NDC GAA seven-a-side all-Ireland finals which take place on Sunday 14 October.
