Livestock marts and agricultural suppliers are permitted to stay open during the upcoming circuit-breaker lockdown in Northern Ireland (NI).

Guidance published by the NI Executive includes a list of businesses that are not permitted to close for the two-week period from 27 November.

Other businesses on the list which are regularly used by NI farmers include veterinary surgeries, banks and hardware stores.

The latest coronavirus restrictions in NI come into effect next Friday and are currently set to end on 11 December. They include the closure of non-essential retail and the hospitality sector.

A COVID-19 protocol for local marts, which includes maintaining social distancing and wearing face coverings, has been agreed by representatives from local marts, DAERA and the Health and Safety Executive NI.
