Tipperary-based dealer McHale Plant Sales is to display the latest from its Merlo, Komatsu construction and Komatsu forestry equipment range at this year’s National Ploughing Championships.

Showcased will be a number of models from the Italian-manufactured Merlo Turbofarmer and Multifarmer range. One model new to the show will be the heavy-duty Merlo TF65.9-170, which has proved a popular choice within the agri sector, according to the brand.

The Multifarmer MF34.7 and MF34.9 units are also expected to be on show – the Multifarmer is a unique offering in that it is equipped with a three-point rear linkage system.

The new Merlo Cingo tracked carrier will make its first appearance at the event.

The popular TF65.9-170 model is powered by a Fiat powertrain technologies (FPT) engine. This four-cylinder engine produces a sizeable 170hp. The handler weighs in at 11,200kg and boasts a 6,500kg lifting capacity.

With an 8.8m lifting range, the machine is equipped with Merlo’s in-house-designed CVTronic continuous variable transmission.

The CVTronic is hydrostatic and allows for continuous acceleration from 0km/h to 40km/h.

The Komatsu WA320-8 and WA80M-8 are two machines expected to be on display.

A number of construction models will also be showcased, including a full specification Roto 50.26S Plus and some models from the Panoramic range.

The recently introduced Merlo Cingo tracked carrier will also make its first appearance at the event. The step-on-and-drive Cingo is a highly versatile trailer-size dump truck with capacity to carry loads from 400kg to 1,200kg. Rapid coupling devices allow numerous different attachments to be used.

Komatsu

Representing the Komatsu brand will be the WA320-8 and a smaller model WA80M-8, two of the brand’s bestselling machines on the ag market.

The WA80M-8 loader is powered by a 72hp engine and has an operating weight of 5,995kg. As standard, the loader offers a maximum flow rate of 600l/min at 270 bar.

The new loader is equipped with a fully automatic hydrostatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. The machine has an increased travel speed of up to 40km/h. The 40km/h transmission has three speed ranges – creep 0-10km/h, 0-15km/h and 0-40km/h. The loader is sitting on planetary rigid axles with automatic limited slip differentials in both axles and 100% locking differentials as an option.

Among other Komatsu exhibits will be a PC170LC-11 large excavator, a PC30MR-5 mini excavator and a PC138US-11 short tail swing model.

The Komatsu importer will also display an 800 series timber forwarder at the event.
