2,400 still to apply for soil scheme
DAERA has confirmed that as of Friday 29 August there were still 2,429 farm businesses yet to apply for the Soil Nutrient Health Scheme (SNHS).
Out of that total, 1,114 are farmers in Zone 4 (Co Antrim), which is around one quarter of the 4,301 farm businesses eligible in the zone.

The closing date for registering has been extended by one week and will now close at midnight on Monday 8 September.
The Scheme is also open to any other businesses in Zones 1, 2 and 3, which have not already registered in previous years. A total of 1,315 farm business have yet to register for the SNHS across these zones.
DAERA has previously said that taking part in the Scheme and completing the training will be a condition for the new Farm Sustainability Payment from January 2026.
