The market remained incredibly strong at Enniskillen last Thursday 28 August, even with seasonal supply starting to increase.

Heavy bullocks topped out at 517p/kg for a 435kg Limousin which made £2,250, while the hammer dropped at £3,100 for an 810kg Simmental at 390p/kg.

Heifers sold to 410p/kg for a 585kg Limousin totalling £2,400, while the top price per head was £2,670. Medium and lighter weights sold to 485p/kg for a 505kg Limousin, £2,450.

There was plenty of choice available in the weanling ring. Steers and bulls ranged from £1,300 to a top price of £2,180 paid for a 415kg Charolais. Heifers started at £1,200 with another Charolais at 420kg getting the top price of £1,970.

In the dropped calf ring, Aberdeen Angus calves were among the top prices, with a bull making £880, while a heifer made £700. However, perhaps the strongest demand was for sucklers, with the supply of quality outfits tight across all local marts. The top price at Enniskillen was the £4,080 paid for a Hereford cow with a Limousin bull calf at foot. This was closely followed by an Aberdeen Angus cow with a Limousin heifer calf, which made £3,890. An in-calf Charolais heifer due in September sold for £3,000.

Fat cows were also in serious demand last Thursday. A 750kg Charolais made £3,100, 400p/kg, with a 705kg Limousin at £2,450, 347p/kg and a 450kg Friesian at £1,650, 366p/kg.

This Limousin bull weanling, born April 2025, weighed 340kg and sold for £1,500, 442p/kg.

This March 2025-born Limousin bull weanling weighed 315kg and sold for £1,710, 543p/kg.

This May 2025-born Limousin heifer calf sold for £1,250.

This May 2024-born Limousin heifer weighed 428kg and sold for £1,920, 449p/kg.

This January 2025-born Limousin heifer weighed 215kg and sold for £1,050, 489p/kg.

This September 2023-born Simmental heifer weighed 470kg and sold for £1,990, 424p/kg.

This February 2024-born Limousin heifer weighed 450kg and sold for £1,900, 423p/kg.

This August 2023-born Charolais bullock weighed 635kg and sold for £2,530, 399p/kg.

These two July 2025-born Charolais bull calves made £830 and £790.

This May 2021-born Limousin breeding bull made £4,180.

This 2011-born in-calf Limousin cow sold for £2,000.
