Wednesday 29 October saw a good entry of 456 cattle presented at Dungannon Farmers Mart in Co Tyrone, with a brisk trade, steady prices and a 98% clearance rate achieved.

The seasonal increase of dropped calves was noticeable and Belgian Blue-sired animals were there in numbers.

Blue heifer calves started at £500 for October-born animals, while August- and September-born calves made £690+ per head.

Bulls traded over £600 for September-born animals, while an exceptional young bull made £710.

However, it was Limousin calves that took the top prices at the sale, with an August-born heifer making £940, while an August-born bull sold for £910.

Native breeds were also present with young Aberdeen Angus calves fetching well over £550.

Weanlings

In the weanling ring, a good show of cattle was on offer, with prices peaking at £2,380, 429p/kg for a 550kg Limousin male born in December 2024. This was closely followed by an April 2025-born Charolais male at 415kg which made £2,200, 530p/kg. Heavy bullocks topped out at £2,850, 398p/kg for a 715kg Limousin. The top-priced heifer was a 630kg animal which made £2,500, 397p/kg, while a younger 490kg animal, potentially going for breeding, sold for £2,380, 491p/kg.

This Limousin heifer, born 1 August 2025, weighed 185kg and sold for £940, 508p/kg.

These Belgian Blue calves were all September born. Heifers sold for £690 and bulls made £630.

This Charolais young bull weanling, born 1 July 2025, weighed 370kg and sold for £1,590, 430p/kg.

This Belgian Blue young bull weanling, born 30 April 2025, weighed 340kg and sold for £1,900, 559p/kg.

This Simmental young bull weanling, born 15 December 2024, weighed 480kg and sold for £2,040, 425p/kg.

This September 2024-born Aberdeen Angus steer weighed 390kg and sold for £1,500, 383p/kg.

This May 2023-born Highland bull weighed 510kg and sold for £1,680, 329p/kg.

This Charolais male, born 17 April 2025, weighed 395kg and sold for £1,780, 448p/kg.

This April 2024-born Limousin steer weighed 630kg and sold for £2,400, 381p/kg.

This May 2024-born Charolais steer weighed 435kg and sold for £1,960, 451p/kg.
