Trade for Simmental heifers was absolutely on fire at Saturday's premier Simmental show and sale in Roscommon Mart.
Buyers from all over Ireland, Northern Ireland and across the water purchased in what was a blazing trade for breeding females.
Auctioneer Denis Barrett's job was made a whole lot easier because of the massive consortium of northern and UK customers ringside and online.
In fact, over one quarter of the 81 animals sold went for export.
Just one heifer went home unsold out of over 60, which went on to average €5,703. Demand for bulls was not as brisk, as 20 out of the 38 bulls on offer found new homes, averaging €6,865.
Sale leader
The overall sale leader came in the form of Clonagh Sammy Fabulous, a May 2024-born bull from the herd of Garrett and Lyndsey Behan in Co Laois.
A son of the herd's UK-bred stock bull Coltfield Murry 21, he goes back to a cow line combining Birdville Freddy and the iconic show bull Banwy T-Rex and was awarded the senior male championship by judge Hannah Wood of the Popes herd in the UK.
No stranger to success, Sammy Fabulous claimed the national Simmental show championship at Tullamore in August under judge Hazel McNee of the Finlarg herd in Scotland.
On Saturday, the Scottish woman backed her judgment, as she had the last call on Sammy Fabulous at €25,000.
Newbiemains herd
The youngest bull in the catalogue at just 10 months old, Moorglen Samuel romped his way to €11,500, selling to the Newbiemains herd in the UK.
Bred and exhibited by Shane Silke from Co Roscommon, this classy young bull is sired by Coose Jericho P and is out of a homebred dam by Cairnview Snazzy.

Bridgemount Sweet Pie, exhibited by the O'Riordan family, sold for €13,500. \ Willie McElroy
Tim O'Leary from Co Cork picked up the junior male championship with his December 2024-born Seaview Sergeant, which came off the back of winning the national senior bull calf championship at this year's National Ploughing Championships.
A son of Coose Lincoln ET and Carbery Nightstar, he was knocked down at €6,500 to a herd in Co Clare.
Sizzling female trade
Topping the sizzling hot female trade at €13,500 was the yearling heifer champion Bridgemount Sweet Pie from William O'Riordan in Co Cork.
This stylish October 2024-born heifer is a daughter of Coose Jericho P, going back to Derreen Declan and Curaheen Vio on her dam's side.
Having won the weanling heifer championship at this year's national show, she was a ringside favourite for many, most of all John Hession, who secured her for his Portroyal herd in Co Mayo.
Raceview draft
Achieving the next highest price of €13,000 in the females was Raceview Ruby Graine 1060, which was part of a draft from Peter and Marion O'Connell in Co Cork.
Just two years old, Graine is a daughter of Raceview Mattie J Beauty MP going back to the great Raceview King and Herkules. Wrapping up this promising young female was John Moore of the Omorga herd in Northern Ireland.
The O'Connells also received €12,000 for the December 2024-born Raceview Sugar Lady 1100 P.
Another daughter of Raceview Mattie J Beauty MP, this prizewinner from the summer shows goes back to a Raceview His Royal Di-bred cow and sold to the well-known Ballinalare herd owned by the Wilson family.
