Charolais enthusiasts from across Ireland are being urged to attend this year’s Rising Stars Calf Show in Ballyjamesduff Mart, on Saturday 16 May.
Hosted by the North East Charolais Club, the event has gone from strength to strength since taking place for the first time in 2023. According to club secretary Oisin Cassidy, it’s a must-attend event.
“Last year was a huge success with many of the calves going on to do well at major shows and sales. These include the overall champion Noble Valhalla, which sold for €10,400 at the Christmas Cracker, and Clonmahon Vadim which recieved the Pedigree Breeder all-star award.

“The addition of commercial classes, saw two calves do extremely well, with Niall and Simone Maguire’s Rockvalley Biscuit winning multiple championships and Fergal Mc Dermott’s heifer calf going on to sell for €11,000 at the winter fair.”
There are over 45 calves entered across 12 classes in Saturday’s show, with judging getting underway at 12pm.
