It was all guns blazing on Monday evening as the Lisduff Angus online production sale came to a close.
Hosted by Ballyjamesduff Mart through MartEye, the online timed auction included a number of heavy hitters and championship winners from this year's show circuit, including the supreme and overall female champion and the overall male champion from the FBD National Livestock Show in Tullamore.
It was the supreme champion Lisduff Lady Faye Z216 which got the sale of to a flying start, selling for the highest price of €19,000.
A daughter of the herd's stock bull Liss Buster S621, her dam is the Baronagh Prince William daughter Baronagh Lady Faye X813.
Born in December 2023, this first-calved cow sold along with her May 2026-born bull calf Lisduff Lord Franko C459, a Woodvale Dynamo Z162 son.
Carrying a two-star replacement index and four-star terminal index within the Angus breed, she will now join Anthony Mullarkey's herd in Co Sligo.
Red demand
Securing the second-highest price of €10,000 was the overall male champion from Tullamore, the red Angus bull Dairemor Red Tulip.
Born in January 2020, he is a son of Dairemor Red Rob and Dairemor Red Rosa, going back to a line of Laingan-bred cows.
With stars to burn and boasting a replacement index of €197, he was snapped up by a Portuguese buyer.
Next in line was another red Angus, this time Lisduff ATA Girl 320, which sold for €7,700 to the purchaser of the highest-priced lot Anthony Mullarkey.
A daughter of Azh Pascha, this August 2024-born heifer sold with a newborn heifer calf at foot.
Lisduff Davina B380 was next best at €7,000, selling to Co Cork breeder Albert DeCogan.
A first-prizewinner at Virginia Show recently, she is a September 2025-born daughter of Lisduff Dino Y064 and the Coolcran Nemo-bred cow Lisduff Davina W829.
Buster son
Matching her at the same money was Lisduff Master A291, a son of Lisduff Buster S621 and going back to Rawburn Boss Hogg.
Born in October 2024 and displaying a massive replacement index of €196, he sold for export to Portugal.
Cattle sold to France, Portugal, Spain, Northern Ireland and all over Ireland.
Overall, the bulls that sold averaged €6,250 and the in-calf heifers averaged €5,105, while maidens averaged €4,387.
