With Agritechnica only days away, Strautmann has taken the wraps off its new forage wagon.

The German manufacturer claims the Magnon CFS is a completely new wagon concept. It will be available in three versions – the 430, 470 and 530, with a loading capacity of 42m³, 46m³ and 52m³ respectively.

Instead of using steel tines, Strautmann has used plastic tines arranged in six V-shaped rows, which they claim offer more flexibility. Strippers made of steel are mounted between the tines. The tines can be changed without the need to remove the bands, just by removing one bolt.

The pickup is now powered hydraulically, allowing the speed to be adjusted in accordance with harvesting conditions. It can be set to auto, where the pickup speed is matched to the speed of the tractor.

Exact-Cut is a new system that features a cutting unit fitted with 48 knives and a theoretical cutting length of 35mm. The knives have double-sided cutting edges. The knife protection system will retract the knife from the rotor if a foreign object is encountered. An automatic reset function means the knives automatically return to their working position after they are triggered.

The Magnon CFS is the first Strautmann wagon to feature a hydraulically pivoting front panel. The front panel helps compress the silage. When the rear cargo space is filled, the front panel automatically pushes forward, offering another 5m³ capacity. When emptying, the front panel once again pushes back for faster emptying.

It can be fitted with tyres as big as 800/45R30.5. The control system has been redeveloped and is now divided into three operating modes – charging, road travel or discharging. The control terminal is Isobus compatible and has a 5.7in touch display.
