Red diesel prices rising

Red diesel prices recorded a 4p/l price increase early this week to just over 65p/l after crude oil prices reacted to the weekend drone attack in Saudi Arabia.

Quotes for 1,000 litres of red diesel midweek were typically around £650 including VAT. However, indications from oil distributors are that markets have steadied and price quotes are expected to start easing again towards the end of the week.

NBA/FFA beef crisis meeting

Farmers For Action (FFA) and the National Beef Association (NBA) have organised a beef crisis meeting, which will take place at the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown on Tuesday 1 October at 8pm.

In a statement, the groups point out that Irish-owned abattoirs now control over 70% of the UK beef market, and suggest that this level of control has “reached an unsustainable dominant peak where farmers’ share of the financial cake is no longer tenable”.

They also believe the time has come for NI to play its part in supporting the efforts of farmers in the Republic of Ireland in their attempts to gain a level playing field for farming families.

All farmers and farm groups are welcome to attend.
