Good luck to Sean Brady who has just been placed in the chair of the Farmers Charter of Rights monitoring committee by Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney.
The Cavan man is a veteran of many fine committees: interim chief exec of the Irish Dairy Board, former boss of the Irish Sugar Company, chair of the 2020 strategy committee, etc.
But as Brady will find out over the coming days, more and more farmers are finding that the 2015 Basic Payment and greening have not yet landed in their bank accounts and he is now in the hot seat to sort this out. No date has yet been set for a first meeting of the monitoring committee.
