For years Louth’s GAA jersey had the AIBP Meats emblem emblazoned on them and the Wee County’s connection with the Goodman name will continue well into the future.

It was announced this week that the Goodman Foundation, chaired by Larry Goodman, is the naming rights holder for the new venue which will be known as Edward Goodman Park.

The stadium in Dundalk will be named after Edward Goodman who was a member of the Dundalk Young Irelands team that played for Louth against Limerick in the first All-Ireland football final in 1887.

A €37m project, the first phase which can accommodate 5,000 spectators is due to open next year and work on phase two which will bring overall capacity to 14,000 is due to begin shortly.
