The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has indicated to the Dáil that it intends to examine the Department of Agriculture’s accounts by the end of the year, if possible.
Now, before you get too excited, this is par for the course. The PAC’s remit is to look at department and State agencies’ accounts.
However, I did tune into last year’s PAC hearing with the Department of Agriculture and at times it was definitely interesting to put it very lightly indeed.

As it was put by one Deputy, the Department had “lost a forest and gained a house”. Here’s hoping that debacle has been sorted.
