Risks are also associated with cattle and goats that have recently given birth. Women should seek advice from their GP if they experience flu-like symptoms after being on a farm.
The HSE has the following advice for pregnant women

Don't provide assistance with lambing or calving.
Avoid contact with aborted or newborn lambs, calves or kids. Also avoid contact with the afterbirth, birthing fluid.
Avoid handling clothing, boots or any materials that may have come into contact with animals that have recently given birth. Clothing will be safe to handle after being washed on a hot cycle.
Ensure contacts or partners who have attended lambing ewes or other animals giving birth take approriate health and hygiene precautions.
