DEAR SIR: Your series on the Land Commission, for all its faults, was a huge success in the great scheme of things. Just remember that England is still under a landlord/tenant arrangement, where extensive swathes of land owned by landlords are operated by tenants who have no ownership of the land, and never will.

Should a tenant not wish to continue farming, they are ejected, even if their parents, grandparents, etc had been tenants.

Happily, we in Ireland have left that all behind us through the operations of the Land Commission.
