United States – low wheat forecast

The latest USDA report on wheat planting estimates the area planted at 42.7m acres, the lowest in 130 years.

New Zealand – sheepmeat exports higher

The Meat Industry Association reports that sheepmeat exports in May were 17% higher than last year at 39,472 tonnes and achieved a record average value of NZ$14.96 (€7.50).

UK – pig production increase

In its latest forecast, the AHDB estimates UK pork production at 1.03m tonnes for 2026, a 5% increase with pigs processed increasing by 3.3% to 10.77m head.

Uruguay – live exports fall

Exports of live cattle were down by 20,000 head in the first five months of this year to 96,569 head (INAC/WBR).
