This year the Irish Aberdeen Angus Association will have its stand at Block 1 Row 24 Stand 576. The association will be proudly displaying some of the best examples of pedigree and commercial cattle including the all-Ireland champion and prize winners from the summer shows.

Here you’ll see approximately 20 cattle demonstrating the breed’s ability to work for the commercial beef producer, the dairy farmer and of course the pedigree breeder.

The association’s president, Alan Cheney, secretary Kathryn Bradshaw and council members will of course be in attendance. They will be joined by the society’s chief executive, Johnny Mackey, and the society’s president, Tom Arnott, who will be available to answer any questions you may have on the breed and talk about plans for the future of Aberdeen Angus cattle.

The association’s stand also boasts a number of other exhibitors. Angus Beef Ireland will have a display of cattle suitable for their producer group, while Slaney Foods, Dunbia, Dawn Meats, Liffey Valley and Foyle Meats will also be present to discuss slaughtering requirements.

A number of the association’s main events are taking place after the ploughing championships so the stand is a perfect place to discuss all the goings-on. These events include:

  • 8 October – The annual National Calf Show will be held in Tullamore, with a prize fund in excess of €5,000. Entries close strictly 23 September, so get them in early. All are welcome to come see approximately 80 of the best young heifers and bulls in Ireland go on show.
  • 22 October – Carrick-On-Shannon Sale of bulls, heifers and cows.
  • 5 November – Northern Ireland Calf Show.
  • 6 December – Show and sale in Dungannon Farmers Mart.
  • New for 2016

2016 sees a new sale taking place by the society to act as the breed’s premier autumn sale for people looking for the best of Aberdeen Angus cattle in Ireland. This is set for Carrick-on Shannon on 12 November. .
