Research at Teagasc Moorepark will be the focus of this year's Teagasc Pig Conference with short summary presentations from research staff on current and future projects.
Edgar Garcia Manzanilla will present a paper showing how the "Net Energy system" offers an opportunity to reduce our feed costs. "Company versus Sole Trader" will be discussed by Teagasc Financial Management Specialists, James McDonnell & Kevin Connolly. Other papers will focus on rodent control and benchmarking herd performance.
Guest speakers, Jan Dahl, a vet from the Danish Agricultural & Food Council will give an update on Salmonella control in Denmark. John Moriarty, Senior Research Officer with the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory, DAFM, Backweston, will discuss Delivery of a Veterinary Laboratory Surveillance Strategy for the Irish Pig Sector.

The conference takes place today at the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Thurles and at the Cavan Crystal Hotel, Cavan tomorrow.
