Smith Harrington Auctioneers, Navan, Co Meath, is handling the sale of a number of farms situated in the east of the country. The first farm is a substantial property that extends to 141.7 acres and is situated at Harlockstown, Ashbourne, Co Meath.

The land is all in one block and laid out in 10 large divisions. The land has over 230 metres of frontage onto two roads, the R125 and the M2 motorway. The land is laid out in tillage with oilseed rape planted this year.

The land is for sale by private treaty at an asking price of €1.8m, or just over €12,700 per acre.

According to selling agent John Harrington Snr, he has had plenty of interest and inquiries since he advertised the farm for sale but there have been no offers on the table just yet.

114-acres on the Meath-Louth border

The second farm on offer from Smith Harrington is another sizeable holding, this time situated at Collon in Co Louth. The land is right on the Meath-Louth border with the field across the road actually in the Royal county.

The farm itself extends to 114 acres with extensive frontage on to the R168 Kells road. The land is all in grass and is described by Harrington as “good agricultural land with some wooded/scrub areas”.

A portion of the farm was once formally used for the extraction of rock, sand and gravel.

The farm at Collon is for sale by private treaty. Smith Harrington, along with joint selling agents Lisney, Dublin 2, are guiding in the region of €800,000 (€7,000/ac) for the farm.

Tillage land available near Rathfeigh

The next parcel of land on offer is situated at Loughanstown, Rathfeigh, Co Meath. Extending to 43.5 acres, the land is currently used for tillage save for one nine-acre field that has become overgrown. However, according to Harrington Snr, a small amount of remedial work would bring the land back into shape. The land is set just off a back road and is accessed via a short laneway.

The farm is again for sale by private treaty with joint agents Lisney and Smith Harrington guiding a price of €435,000 (€10,000/ac) for the entire holding.

35-acres for auction

The last farm that Smith Harrington has for sale of is situated at Follistown, Navan, Co Meath, and extends to 35.1 acres. The land is described as “top-quality grassland” and is laid out in two well-proportioned divisions.

Harrington Snr describes the farm as “relatively high ground” that is well drained with a minor gradient towards the eastern boundary. A small stream forms one of the boundaries of the farm providing a source of clean water. An old graveyard is located in the rear field and has been omitted from the sale.

Joint agents Lisney and Smith Harrington will offer the farm at Follistown for sale by public auction on Tuesday 9 December at 3pm in the Smith Harrington salesroom at Bridge Street, Navan.
