The National Ploughing Association (NPA) managing director Anna May McHugh has been elected as an honorary board member of the World Ploughing Organisation.

She is in Germany to attend the the World Ploughing Championships taking place near Stuttgart this weekend.

Irish representatives

John Whelan and Eamonn Tracey are representing Ireland in the competition.

Announcing the news, the NPA said it was “an incredibly prestigious appointment” and that only one other person had been honoured with the title.

The 87th National Ploughing Championship will take place in Screggan, Co Offaly, from 18 to 20 September.
