A 32.5ac residential farm on an elevated site overlooking Lough Foyle is what Moville-based auctioneers McCauley Properties are bringing to public auction on 29 February.
Located at Broackagh, Moville, Co Donegal, this is a compact, functional grassland farm that has the added attraction of a house with two bedrooms that is just waiting to become someone’s dream renovation project.
Located less than 4km from Moville and 19km from Carndonagh, the house and yard are situated to the rear of the property and sit on an elevated site with views overlooking Lough Foyle. Set back 400m from the public road, they are accessed via a lane that runs through the centre of the property.
The residence hasn’t been occupied for a number of years and is likely to qualify for the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant. Acting as the focal point of the house is the living room with a bedroom on either side of it. An annex was added to the rear and this contains both the kitchen and bathroom.
Alongside the dwelling is a long stone-built outbuilding approximately 30m long. This has a number of doorways and can be used as storage sheds or stables. Across from this on the southern side of the yard, there is a more modern lean-to building of a similar length.
This is divided into general storage and animal housing. On the eastern side of this building, there is an enclosed concrete yard and dung or silage storage area.
The area between both buildings has gates at either end and also contains a cattle crush. The bulk of the land is on the roadside of the holding and is divided into over a dozen subdivisions of various sizes.
It’s all in one block and in grass with some marginal land in places and there is also a share of the hill land included in the sale. The farm has also been recently fenced.
The auction takes place at Glencrow Hall, Moville on Thursday 29 February at 3pm. The guide price for this Inishowen farm going for a leap year auction is set at €450,000.
