Headed up by the Rural Crime Partnership, Department of Agriculture and the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the scheme aims to help tackle the growing number of quad and trailer thefts.

The scheme will subsidise the cost of the purchasing and fitting of a tracking device to small machinery items.

With the number of machinery thefts increasing in Ireland, Sinead Simpson of the Department of Justice and also chair of the RCP has welcomed the new support scheme.

“Having a tracking device fitted to equipment not only acts as a deterrent to criminals, but significantly increases the likelihood of a stolen item being recovered quickly.”
