Five of the 33 contestants in this year’s Queen of the Land festival are farming, while a number of others show livestock as a hobby or study agriculture part-time. The festival, which is run by Offaly Macra, takes place this weekend in Tullamore.

Former winner and secretary of the World Ploughing Association, Anna Marie McHugh, will be joined by 2015 winner Christine Buckley and WR Shaw’s Billy Shaw on the judging panel.

The event kicks off on Friday night and the winner will be crowned at midnight on Sunday.
