An outdoor auction on the land at Waterstown, Sallins, Co Kildare saw an opening bid of €300,000 for a 20ac holding. The auction was run by O’Neill & Co Auctioneers, Naas, Co Kildare.
After a series of further bids the hammer fell at €400,000, equal to €20,000/ac.
“Parcels of lands of this size and in these locations rarely come to the market and when they do, they generate significant interest,” auctioneer Darac O’Neill said.
Raymond Potterton auctioneers sold 21ac of land at Caucestown, Co Meath, recently. The land was bought at auction for €255,000 or €12,140/ac. The successful bidder was a solicitor acting in trust for a client.
Tuam auctioneer Martin Tyrrell has completed the sale a number of properties in Galway and Mayo. He sold 18ac with an old-style residence at Kilmaine, Co Mayo, for €210,000 or €11,666/ac. There were three interested parties.
He sold 32ac of mixed-quality lands at Cummer, Co Galway for €200,000, or €6,250/ac. He is at sale agreed stage for 8ac at Urracly, Cloghans Hill, with a price of €66,000.
