Former ICSA national treasurer James Reynolds has secured an interim injunction in the High Court preventing the farming organisation from removing him from its Longford executive. Reynolds was in court on Tuesday, where he was granted the temporary injunction on an ex-parte basis, where the ICSA was not present.

Reynolds is challenging the ICSA’s March decision to remove him from his position on the Longford branch executive and, by extension, his position as national treasurer. The cattle and sheep farmers’ body has a policy that says no one can be a spokesperson for a political project or organisation while holding an ICSA national officer position.

Reynolds is deputy president of the right-wing political party, the National Party.

A spokesman for the ICSA declined to comment, pending legal advice, but it is understood the next step will be for the ICSA to respond to the temporary injunction.
