Companies like Dairymaster, Grassland Agro, Agritech and Dairygold are filling sales positions at this year’s Agri Careers Fair in the RDS on 30 March.

Grassland Agro, which sources, produces and wholesales fertilizers, is recruiting technical sales advisers at this year’s careers fair. The positions will be based in Waterford, Tyrone and Fermanagh.

Stan Lalor, group head of speciality business with Grassland Agro, says the company looks for candidates with good communication skills who present themselves well and are professional.

“Are they a good ambassador for the brand?” asks Stan simply. “After that, we look for good technical ability, and good attention to detail around administration. That’s pretty much it.”

Stan says sales can be a “lonely job”, but it can also be very rewarding. “It suits a certain type of individual.”

Stan says there is no set profile in terms of the type of person they hire for sales roles. “Generally speaking, our more successful people are those with more experience. They don’t have to have a degree.”

He adds that: “Exposure to the agri industry is just as important as their exposure to the agri lecture theatre”.

Dairymaster, which manufactures dairy equipment, is recruiting for several different types of sales roles at this year’s fair - sales representatives, regional sales managers and international sales executives.

The sales representatives and international sales executives will be based in the company’s headquarters in Causeway, Kerry, while the regional sales managers will be in the UK.

Sales representatives will close sales leads generated from marketing efforts and build long-term relationships with customers. There is travel involved in the role – for customer visits and tradeshows.

Dairymaster is looking for individuals who are interested in agriculture and technology. CEO of Dairymaster, Edmond Harty, says “invariably, it’s not like there are a lot of agri tech companies out there doing this type of stuff at scale. So I suppose the first point is if you’re so inclined – if you like agriculture and you like software – there are probably very few careers opportunities in that area.”

Dairymaster is also recruiting two regional sales managers and two international sales executives at the fair.

Other Sales Roles

Agritech will also be recruiting for 14 sales roles at the fair. These include seven full-time sales advisor roles and seven van sales operator roles. These positions are located across the country.

Dairygold is recruiting for five retail sales assistants and CLAAS will be looking for four sales executives across Ireland and Northern Ireland, to name but a few. Other companies looking to fill sales roles at the fair include Colm Quinn BMW, Ashbourne Meats, Irish Country Meats, Keenan and Redmills.

If you are interested in any of these positions and would like the opportunity to meet employers, come along to the Agri Careers Fair in the RDS on 30 March.
