Two important closing dates are looming for the Sheep Welfare Scheme and the sheep census. Both documents must be completed and submitted by Tuesday 31 January. The sheep census application can be returned by posting the hardcopy form or online via the Department’s Agfood.ie facility. Over 12,000 applications have been submitted for the sheep welfare scheme, with a significant increase in applications expected over the coming days. The Department is reminding farmers to select measures that best suit their system and to only select one measure from category A and one measure from Category B. Where farmers have not received an application form they can request one from the Department Sheep Welfare Scheme by calling (076) 106 4420 or emailing sheepscheme@agriculture.gov.ie.
