TE Potterton REA had a successful auction of the 78ac at Clondoogan in Co Meath in recent days, achieving €15,000/ac.

Three buyers fought for the residence on 13ac. It opened at €250,000 and was knocked down a few minutes later at €350,000 to a Dublin-based buyer with business and equestrian interests.

The cutstone coachouse on 1.3ac opened at €60,000 and sold at €110,000 to an Irish couple based in London. The 2.7ac field fronting on to the Summerhill to Rathmolyon road opened at €30,000 and sold for €80,000 to a local family.

Thomas Potterton said there were four bidders for the 22.5ac block of land which opened at €180,000, went up in bids of €10,000 and was bought, at €325,000 by “a lady from Dublin”. That was just under €14,500/ac.

The 10ac field accessed by a right of way, with no road frontage, opened at €50,000, went up in €5,000, and was sold for €115,000.

A local Co Meath farmer opened the bidding for the 28ac block of land located on a cul de sac, at €150,000. However, it was a local family with business interests that ended up getting it for €182,000.

“The total was €1,162,000 which was almost €15,000/ac. I looked for a bid higher than that for the entirety – but I didn’t get one bid,” Thomas said.

Two dairy farmers

Raymond Potterton sold two farms to dairy farmers at auction in recent days. The auctioneers sold the 86ac at Addinstown which is at Delvin, Co Westmeath, for €740,000, which was €10,000 ahead of the guide price. It worked out at €8,600/ac.

The same firm also sold the 78ac at Springville, Kells, Co Meath, for €930,000, again to a local dairy farmer. This was for the entire holding. The guide was €11,000/ac and the selling price was €12,000/ac.
