Young farmers need funding options that are competitive from a European perspective, according to the Macra na Feirme national president.

The cost of finance is an issue for young farmers that can be addressed using funds from the European Investment Bank.
Speaking recently at the CEJA young farmers’ presidium in Brussels, Macra na Feirme national president Seán Finan said: “Tackling the cost of finance for young farmers by developing and using financial instruments in the Rural Development Programme with the support of the European Investment Bank must be a priority.”
He said: “Young farmers aim to be competitive and get value for money when purchasing their inputs – the same should apply to the cost of finance. Young farmers need at their disposal options for funding their business that are competitive from a European perspective.”
