My go-to midweek meal is… spaghetti bolognese with a little bit of chorizo put in for flavouring and parmesan as well, but plenty of veg. I tend to go heavy on the protein and meat side of things and a bit lighter on the carbs.

The sportsperson I most admire is… Katie Taylor. I just think she broke the mould. I would be pretty cool, calm and collected. I didn’t cry getting engaged, I don’t cry at films or anything like that, but she actually pushed me to the brink when she won gold in London. I thought it was a massive watershed moment for sport in Ireland; not just women’s sport.

My favourite work-out song is… Best of You by Foo Fighters.

My favourite sports biography is… Moss Keane’s Rucks, Mauls and Gaelic Football he was obviously a sporting legend and a Kerryman, but I also love Paul O’ Connell’s The Battle. Paul is such a massively driven human being and you think he’s always so confident and composed and competent, but when you read the book you realise he’s riddled with self-doubt, just like everyone else. We all have this thing, ‘God the next game is the one where we’re going to be found out, where everyone realises you’re no good’ and you think you're the only one who thinks these things, but actually the most supreme pro has these thoughts all the time and that’s part of the fear driving everyone on.

The app I use most is… I’m a big Twitter fan because I like the short nature of it. It can be very informative in terms of following sports results, particularly when we’re away a lot and we’re in different time zones.
