They say ‘a picture paints a thousand words’, and this year Fisherman’s Friend Ireland is celebrating the strength of friendship with its nationwide search to find Ireland’s Greatest Friendship, through the art of photography.

A family business, that has been making much loved lozenges for over 150 years, Fisherman’s Friend knows the importance of strong friendship, and through this national search, hopes to uncover stories and images that capture what’s at the heart of Irish communities – friendship.

Seeking to honour the importance of friendship and pay tribute to a true friend who goes far beyond the call of duty in helping and supporting someone, Fisherman’s Friend Ireland is calling for individuals to capture their friendship, and what it means to them, through a photograph and submit it atwww.farmersjournal.ie/friendship

Community spirit

Jon White, regional business manager of Fisherman’s Friend said: “There’s such strength in friendship and we’re thrilled the Fisherman’s Friend Ireland friendship competition, in partnership with the Irish Country Living, is back.

“2020 has been hugely difficult for everyone however, it has also demonstrated the immense community spirit that exists within Irish communities and we know that friendships have played a key role in this. This competition is all about celebrating those friendships ‘through the lens’ and encouraging you to connect with friends, or re-connect with long-lost friends, relatives or those you may not seen in a while but have always been there for you.

“This is your time to celebrate friendship. An image taken that makes you smile. It can be from an event in the past, a picture taken when you last meet, or it might even be a video call screenshot, capturing the treasured connection between you and the wonderful people you call.”

The competition is open to all adults who are resident in Ireland and are aged 18 years and over. The winner will receive a €750 Blue Book Voucher and two runners-up will get a €250 Blue Book Voucher for a staycation at a luxury Irish property. Their stories will also feature in Irish Country Living, and all shortlisted entries will be showcased on Fisherman’s Friend Ireland Facebook Page.
