Billy Timmins, the former Wicklow TD, has been allowed back into the Fine Gael party after being expelled from it four years ago.

Timmins was the party’s agriculture spokesperson from 2002 to 2004 and later the defence spokesperson.

In 2013, he was expelled from the party after losing the party whip.

He went on to become deputy leader of the Renua Ireland party and resigned from that last year.
