Michael Collins summarises the seven tractors recently tested with a brief look back at their attributes. Alistair reports on an articulated Masssey in north Kerry and the very powerful Kia Stinger.
After seven weeks of profiling a different stockman’s tractor, this week we take a briefStockman's tractor test – the results are in" target="_blank"> look back at the tractors we tested. Every tractor was compared in the exact same environment with the same equipment.
All measurements taken in-situ. PTO power was calculated using a verified dynamometer with no input from the individual manufacturers. The acceleration test was a simple A to B measurement we did over a 280m course towing a loaded dump trailer. We didn’t pick one individual tractor as a winner as every farmer’s needs and prerequisites are different.
Even among the team, we all had our personal preference for a particular model. Plus, when it comes to buying a tractor, there are a lot more factors to consider than just brand.
