The anti-establishment-Trump-Brexit mood was evident, with Michael O’Dowd beating outgoing Sean Brosnan by six votes for dairy chair. Brosnan is on the Kerry Co-op board, O’Dowd is a 40-cow supplier from Castlemaine.
Francis Foley from Castlemaine beat Stephan John O’Shea from Lauragh for the position of sheep chair; Florence McCarthy from Kenmare beat Michael O’Connor from Catherdonnell for the hill committee; and Ken O’Connell from Lixnaw beat Lactin Spring from Castlemaine for animal health.
