I see that two farmers will join the Lakeland board as of next week.
Former vice chair and Co Louth farmer Gerard Melia is finishing up his term on the board. There are two in the race to replace the affable Melia. They are Nicholas Cooney and Niall Matthews.
The winner was made known at a meeting on Wednesday but that happened after I went to print.

Sean Finnegan in Co Cavan has attended his last board meeting too. Finnegan’s replacement is PJ Tully who was elected at a meeting on Tuesday night.
Separately, Jimmy Lynch has served a
four-year term but he is not being contested and will be returned unopposed.
