The Irish Vendéen Sheep Society will display a shearling ram, bred and owned by John & Stephen Lynch from Ballinascraw, Ballinalee, Co Longford on its stand at this year’s National Ploughing Championships.

There will also be a Suffolk cross ewe with her two Vendéen crossbred lambs at foot, owned and bred by Anthony and Oisín Gannon from Ballivor, Banagher, Co Offaly.

In a bid to demonstrate the favourable grading ability of the breed, a number of factory grading sheets with pictures of carcases will be on display along with a butcher’s Blog. The Society has 50 members and registered circa 400 lambs this year.

There will be a Vendéen ram sale on Wednesday 7 October in Enniscorthy and an in-lamb ewe sale on Wednesday 21 October in Roscommon.
