The event's organisers brought real farming to the doorstep of city slickers, advertising the weekend's fair with the tagline: "There’s a new sheriff in town and it’s you, Pardner."
The fair's centerpiece was the unique sunrise cattle drive through the streets of downtown San Diego. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, 48 cowpokes on horseback and eight dogs herded 200 American Longhorn and Mexican Corriente cattle along a 2.5-mile route across the historic Gaslamp Quarter.

The 45-minute ride was a re-enactment of the cattle drives that routinely crossed the city until the 1950s. San Diego's residents woke up to the sight of the herd strolling past their homes on Sunday morning.
The cattle, ranchers and dogs all made it safely home before morning traffic got busy.
